Medium Format What is it and Why use it?

Any of the photos on this blog may be downloaded free of charge.
It costs a great deal of money and time to create these images so if you are able to, a small donation will be appreciated.  You can donate with the donate button on the home page of hiddenhousestudio.com.
Thank you!

Medium format film is usually classified as 120 film. It is approximately 4 time the size of 35mm film and therefore much more usable for larger prints. The normal exposure sizes are 6x6. 6x7, and 6x9 centimeters.
I generally use color negative although I frequently will switch to color transparency when ASA 200 or better is available.
The image of this road was captured a short distance from Cordes Lakes in central Arizona. I was intrigued by the starkness of the road disappearing over the hill in the lower left  third of the image.
In this image I have placed emphasis on the sharp leaves of the cactus pointing toward the distant mountain. This image was captured on Portra 160 f11 @125 polarized.
